ROLLINK
FLEX LIGHT
Premium Travel, Smartly Designed.
The Flex Light project was born from a desire to bring Rollink's smart, foldable design to a wider audience, all while maintaining a sense of quality and innovation. We aimed to create a suitcase specifically suited for the modern business traveler – someone who frequently travels the global landscape and needs a bag that is both stylish and functional for short trips, one that can "live" harmoniously with a larger suitcase.
The core challenge was how to create a suitcase with a significantly reduced price point without compromising the look and feel of a premium product.

One of the key changes that led to cost reduction was the shift to using ABS for the outer shell, a material considerably more affordable than the polycarbonate used in the Mono model. Despite this, we invested significant thought in the shell's design to maintain an elegant and durable appearance.
Another design challenge was creating a flat surface suitable for applying logos and stickers, crucial for the B2B market, while still ensuring the structural integrity of the suitcase. Typically, such strength is achieved with plastic ribbing, but these would interfere with the flat surface. Our solution was a clever external stripe design that provides structural reinforcement without compromising the smooth area.

Inside the suitcase, instead of the four flaps found in the Mono, we opted for two robust flaps that provide the necessary structure and stability when the suitcase is in its expanded state. The way these flaps connect to the suitcase is with rivets, which, while more expensive than Velcro, offer a strong and long-lasting connection, contributing to the overall feeling of quality.
The choice of a metal trolley handle, as opposed to the more expensive aluminum handle of the Flex Mono, was also part of the effort to reduce production costs. Additionally, the Flex Light is equipped with single wheels, in contrast to the double spinner wheels of the Mono, as a further measure to lower manufacturing costs.

A significant additional advantage of the foldable suitcase design is the efficiency in shipping costs. Thanks to the collapsibility, we can ship significantly more Flex Light suitcases for the same shipping cost as traditional rigid luggage.
This efficiency not only saves money but also contributes to sustainability. This clever combination of materials and manufacturing techniques allowed us to reach a more accessible price without sacrificing durability and the feeling of a well-designed product.

The Flex Light exemplifies the possibility of combining economic efficiency with smart, high-quality design. It offers an advanced carrying solution at an attractive price, while staying true to Rollink's DNA of innovation and ease of use, and specifically addressing the needs of the modern business traveler.
